Capparis cynophallophora, commonly known as Jamaican caper. it is a small tree of the caper family. Capparaceae family is native to neotropical realm. this plant is related to the culinary caper, it is not edible to humans, though birds enjoy the fruit. the plant is edible to the flower buds(capers) used as seasoning for garnish or the fruit (capris barries) both of them consumed as salted or pickled. jamaica caper is a versatile or attractive plant for use in coastal landscapes of Monroe County. native to the keys and southeast coast of Florida. it has beautiful shiny leaves that look excellent on landscapes

USES
The Jamaica capper can be used as an accent or specimen tree as well as an informal hedge. It is a unique plant that is wonderfully fragrant.is white colors turn pink within hours of opening. the flower composed of long stamens, looking almost as if they were burning like fireworks. it is mostly used for seafood dishes such as baked fish or pasta sauce such as puttanesca sauce. it also adds a briny, savory, lemony, or signature caper-like chicken piccata recipe.

the unopened flower buds of Jamaica caper and other and other parts that grow above the ground are used for medicines. people use care for diabetes, fungal infection, chest congestion, worms in the intestines, and skin diseases caused by parasites called leishmaniasis. it is also used for tonic.
